Wow, we just had a Christmas treat for 100 persons in the Mandeville community. Many persons benefitted.

Christmas is the time of year when everything seems out of control. Several friends have communicated that they have been dislocated, and stressed from having to accomodate persons in spaces which were too small and with low resources, but remember God is able to keep us throughout this season.

The message we got today Sunday, December 23, 2007, is “Be Anxious for nothing, WAIT on the Lord”.

Timely Thoughts – Del Edwards

My Mom wrote a series called Timely Thoughts for the Mandeville Weekly and we will include one each month in the Families for Christ Newsletter. Here is an interesting one:

 A few nights ago, before retiring, my three-year-old grand-daughter ended her prayer with, Dear Lord: Bless everybody except Brandon and me. She really meant “especially Brandon and me”, but since she couldn’t remember the bigger word, she used a smaller on “Except”. What a good thing God understands”, I found myself thinking and smiling.

Children are not the only ones who make wrong requests in prayer. Adults do too, but an all-knowing God, who is fully aware of our thoughts, say in His word, (Romans 8:26, 27), 26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

Families for Christ Missions – Del Edwards

As you know my Mom died on August 15, 2007. She left behind a legacy of great work which she started. One of these, Families for Christ Mission is a mission to the hurting and needy in Mandeville and it’s surrounding communities. Pastor Olando White now runs the mission. We welcome clothing, food, money which we pass on to the many persons who stop by each day. Christmas is coming and so children are looking forward to toys and we are planning a Christmas treat. We have now established a website and will be sending out newsletters starting November 2007.
