2009
“Time to Shine in 09″
“Align in 2009″
“It’s your time in 2009″
“New wine in 2009″
I have never seen a year with so many acronyms. It could be because this year will require more faith than any recent year and so we will need these acronyms to carry us through. Tough times require big faith and so our faith will be exercised over this year. If we survived 2008, I am sure we will survive 2009. He does not give us more than we can bear. We continue to need to support each other in prayer and in whatever physical way we can.
With God all things are possible. Blessings.
Launch of John Maxwell EQUIP in Jamaica
The launch was great. Dr Henley Morgan delivered.

Jamaica lacks strong leadership – Morgan

A failure of elected and non-elected leaders to provide proper leadership is being blamed for the many problems facing the country.
Management consultant Dr Henley Morgan says this insufficiency of leadership is a problem which Jamaica needs to address quickly.
“As a people we have to accept that Jamaica is far from what it can be. Because of the failure of leadership at every level, King’s House, Jamaica House, Gordon House and the school house, there has been a proliferation of other houses; the poor house, the crack house, the whore house and we know about the dead house,” Dr Morgan charged.

According to Dr Morgan, this failure of leadership is all that is wrong in Jamaica and the world.
“We don’t want to beat up on ourselves because there are people in Jamaica providing leadership even now but as a people, we have to accept that there is an insufficiency of leadership.”
He argued that the failure of leadership is to be blamed for much of the international financial meltdown now under way, but said the election of Barack Obama to lead the United States could provide the world with the example of the leadership that is needed.
Dr Morgan noted that the world has placed great expectation on the president elect who is to take over from George W Bush on January 20, 2009.
“People are wondering what would happen if he fails, but decency never fails and I say more than anything else that is what Barack represents, decency in relationships
between people,” added Dr Morgan.
The management consultant was speaking with The Gleaner following the launch of the Centre For Leadership ‘EQUIP’ programme in Jamaica.
more on equip
EQUIP is an international non-profit organisation specialising in the development of Christian leaders.
Founded in 1966, EQUIP is being taken to Jamaica by the Centre for Leadership whose chairman, the Reverend Errol Bolt, said Jamaica would never get to where it should be without quality leadership.
According to Bolt, EQUIP will attempt to change the nation by helping to develop quality leaders.
John Maxwell
Leadership gurus all agree that ”Leadership is Influence”. If we are leading and no one is following then we are merely taking a walk.
I am sure there are other Professors and Lecturers of leadership throughout the world but what kind of followership do they have. Do you know that John Maxwell has sold over 16 million books and his organization has trained over 2 million people. Talk about influence.
He recently put this prayer together for his 60th birthday. Really powerful.
Lord, I would like to be known as
available, rather than a hard worker,
compassionate, more than competent,
content, not driven,
generous, instead of rich,
gentle, over being powerful,
a good listener, more than a great communicator,
loving, verses quick or bright,
reliable, not famous,
sacrificial, instead of successful,
self-controlled, rather than exciting,
thoughtful, more than gifted.
I want to be a “foot-washer.”
Amen.

I am back
The last 4 months have been a whirlwind of crazy stuff and great stuff. In the mix my hard drive crashed, and my website was down for 1 week. Many good things have happened as well. We are launching Centre for Leadership on November 7 and my church is having our 1st anniversay on Sunday October 19. What a time? The economic shift is creating hardship on so many lives. We have to find ways of helping. Mummy’s Families for Christ continues to be a source of help. If you have any donations please contact me via email jgeddes@jageddes.co.uk.
Preparation for July 3
As we prepare for July 3, the rush of excitement is getting greater. The group of persons signing up are from varied spheres of society, from basketball coaches to eductors, bankers, doctors, nurses, entertainment coordinators. I look forward to the interaction between these interesting groups at the seminar and the information that will be shared. We expect to build long-lasting relationships and that the time spent together will have lifetime implications.
I am enjoying the excitement in the air as we plan for this event and look forward to many more. By the way the next one is tentatively October 30. Put the date in your diary from now. Another life changing opportunity.
